My why for not freaking out...

I feel like I have always been on a journey to become a better person. I have failed many times in this journey. Some days are better than others, but overall, each day seems to get better and better. When I first started in the direct sales world, a common practice that they use is to determine your why for doing the thing that you are doing. I remember sitting with a stack of magazines and cutting out pictures to put on a "dream board" and hoping and wishing for the kind of life that those people high up in the company had accomplished.  One thing that I have learned with any goal is that someone isn't going to walk up to you and hand you the finished product of your goal and say, "Here you go!". Unfortunately life doesn't work like that. It takes hard work and sometimes sacrifice to achieve the goals that really matter to you.  My "Fabulous by Forty" goal started from a low point in my life. I have been lower. And to be honest, life wasn...

Life is good! Why should I freak out?

I sit here on the couch and watch my husband playing X-Box 360. I am kind of watching and reflecting over this past week. My last blog post focused on my new adventure of working out with a personal trainer. My next 2 days were not as dramatic as they were on the first. While I had issues with walking without pain and probably didn't really start feeling better until Sunday, I have noticed already a difference in my endurance. My goal with this personal training is not necessarily for weight loss. I know that it will be a natural side effect of working my butt off...literally. My goal, as I have told Carlye is based off of a fear I have always had. You know in movies where you see that person slip and fall off the side of a cliff and are only hanging there by a few fingers or with their hand. I know that if I were ever in that situation now, I would die. Without some sort of miracle or sheer adrenaline, I would never make it back over to safety. I want to know that if that ridicu...

My Lord, what have I done? and other things I asked myself this morning...

Day 1: I woke up this morning and was excited and scared and was wondering what I was about to endure. Most of the time I am a very strong, confident human being. Once I know what I'm doing, or have done it at least once, I am great. I am not so great when I am going into a new place, with new people, and doing things I have never done before. Then I am a nervous wreck. The people around me will never know that I am a nervous wreck. I will look calm, cool, collected, while inside...I'm a mess. This morning was going to be my first day working out with a trainer. I thought I would cook some bacon and hard boil two eggs and actually eat breakfast, along with drink an energy drink for a little extra boost. Protein!!! I got up early. I put on some loud music. I cleaned my kitchen while things cooked. Then I ate and hopped in my car to go endure the unknown lying in wait for me at Anytime Fitness with Carlye, my trainer for the next 4 weeks. For those of you who actually work ou...

So I'm kind of Freaking Out...

I sit here in a recliner watching TV while my kids eat popcorn and ice cream and my husband lays on "the cool couch" (it's the couch sitting over the air vent so it stays cool) reading a book. I'm not really watching TV though. I have a running banner in my brain listing all the things coming up, goals I want to accomplish, along with a wonder of "what am I forgetting?". On my 38th birthday (back in November) I came up with a "Fabulous by Forty" plan. It gets me out of debt. It sets goals for my career. It even has aspects of getting healthier and becoming a happier individual. I think that it is the first long-term goal that I have set up that I am focused fully on accomplishing. It's also the first goal that I set for myself that I am truly scared of messing up because I have wanted it for so long and have never truly figured out a way to accomplish it. Yet now I have a feasible, working plan. Some of the goals include getting stronger by g...
